What Is Therapy?

No two people are the same, and neither is the way we work together.

Some people come with a clear difficulty they would like support with. Others arrive with a quieter sense that life has become smaller, flatter or less alive than it once was.

Therapy Services

I draw on three complementary approaches, always adapting the work to the person in front of me.

Psychotherapy | Somatic Experiencing® | Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

These are not separate services but different ways of listening. Together they allow us to work with the whole person - mind, body, nervous system and lived experience.

Psychotherapy

A reflective space to explore thoughts, emotions, relationships and life experiences.

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist combining many approaches and techniques from the Psychoanalytic, Jungian, Humanistic, and Transpersonal fields of psychotherapy. Each person is a whole universe and unique in their experience of how they see/feel themselves in the world.

The integrative approach means that we can look at ones life experience, difficulty, and strengths through many lenses to support growth and understanding in how one thinks, feels, about their relationship with themselves.

The arts part of this psychotherapeutic approach places emphasis on the importance of imagination as central to our health and being well. When we can imagine into what we might need, to what’s missing, or needed. We can then begin to follow and trust ourselves in the direction that the psyche is pointing.

How It Works

We can be curious about dreams or images that might be a source of information as we journey through life. Bodily sensations that can accompany symptoms such as anxiety or depression can be thought of with an imaginative lens. We may have an image come to us, or a felt sensation associated with our symptoms of anxiety or depression. By exploring and curiously attending these images we can gain further information as to where our energies might be blocked or what might be needed to support oneself.

Somatic Experiencing®

Somatic Experiencing® a gentle, body-oriented approach that supports the nervous system in recovering from stress, overwhelm and trauma.

It offers a new and hopeful perspective on trauma, it views the human animal as having an innate capacity to heal through learning how to notice and follow sensations in the body through to the point of completion, where the body gets to do what it needs to do to feel safe again.

During life, many people experience difficulty and challenge to one’s ability to respond to stress. As helpful as talking can be, it does not attend to the story that is happening in our body’s physiology. Our autonomic nervous system is complex and, in a culture that so often denies our body reality, it can be difficult to get the right help.

How It Works

This approach supports the integration of sensation, our bodily experience, and meaning. What often gets lost as a result of trauma is our aliveness. Somatic Experiencing® is a highly effective way of working to bring that back.

I integrate this work with Psychotherapy and arts-based body-centred approaches that encourage deeper connection to the body, one’s own aliveness and imagination as we move towards health.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

A subtle, hands-on approach that supports deep rest and listens to the body's own capacity for balance and healing.

I first experienced craniosacral therapy work in my teens, and later in my 20s following a time of illness, it left a lasting impression on me.

From that early age, I felt a strong affinity with its core principles, trusting the body’s innate intelligence and its remarkable capacity for self-healing. That experience shaped the way I view wellness today: not as something to force or fix, but as a process of gently supporting the body to align with the right conditions for it do do what it knows best.

How It Works

Through Craniosacral Therapy, I offer a gentle space where your body can reset and reconnect with its natural rhythms. Each session is guided by listening deeply to your body’s needs, allowing healing to unfold in a way that feels safe, respectful and empowering.

“To not be cut off, however, we need to be moving in a rhythm that is syncopated with that of the oaks and willows, heartbeats and touch. We must recall the original cadence of the soul”

My Approach

therapeutic process

The therapeutic process can support people with a wide range of difficulties ranging from anxiety and panic attacks to feelings of loss of direction in life or addictive behaviours.

The process begins with an initial session where I will ask you how I might help you, and together we map out a plan which might include working on a particular issue or we adopt a more open-ended approach where we see what needs attending to each week.

Short term might be 6-12 sessions and long term might be over 6 months and onwards.

At each stage of the process we will reflect on how it might be going and what directions feel best to follow. I work weekly both face-to-face and online.
